What is laughter yoga?

Laughter yoga combines simple laughter exercises with gentle breathing techniques.

It might sound unusual, but it works.

Your body can't tell the difference between real and pretend laughter - the benefits are the same. And before long, pretend laughter becomes real, contagious laughter that leaves you feeling genuinely uplifted.

What should I expect in a laughter yoga session?

Sessions last around 45-60 minutes and include:

  • Warm-up exercises and gentle stretching

  • Playful laughter exercises

  • Breathing techniques

  • Guided relaxation

 

Sessions create a safe, welcoming atmosphere where it's completely normal to feel a little awkward at first. Most people find that within minutes they've lost their inhibitions entirely - and that the laughter that follows is completely real.

You'll be on your feet for most of the session (though seated options are available if needed).

What to wear? Comfortable clothing you can move in
What to bring? Just yourself and an open mind

People often say they forgot their worries, left feeling lighter, and slept like a log that night. Laughter really is the best medicine!

I'm a certified Laughter Yoga Leader, trained to facilitate sessions that help people release tension, boost mood, and reconnect with joy.

I discovered laughter yoga after 18 years in corporate insurance and it reminded me to stay open to unexpected experiences. It's now one of my favourite ways to help people feel joyful.
